Introduction to Beekeeping Workshop

If you’re thinking about starting a bee hive or are just curious about what’s involved with keeping bees, then this introductory workshop is just right for you! The workshop is designed for absolute beginners so no prerequisite knowledge is required.

It will include a theoretical and practical part, and will be conducted by SOILS member Bassam Khawand – a local "permaculture beekeeper" and president of the Saidoun Agriculture Cooperative.

AFIR Beekeeping and Nature Discovery Center
in the village of Saidoun (Jezzine caza) 

Program of the workshop
Theoretical:
• Overview 
• Bee facts
• Conditions for keeping a bee hive
• Bee diseases and predators
Practical:
• Visiting the hives and taking a look inside
• Introduction to honey extraction

What to bring
The following are mandatory for the bee hive visit (additional protective suits will be provided for all participants):
• Boots
• Long-legged pants
• Long-legged shirt
• Cap or hat
• Rubber band or something to tie long hair

Participation fee
LBP 50,000 per participant | Students: LBP 40,000 
* includes workshop fees and equipment costs, coffee breaks and home-made lunch
