Training of Animators for Crisis Gardens | August, 2020

SOILS Permaculture Association Lebanon is proud to organize the Training of Animators for Crisis Gardens in Lebanon with the support of Terre et Humanisme (France).

About the Training of Animators
This 6-day training course aims to equip students or fresh graduates of the Lebanese University Faculty of Agriculture with the necessary tools and knowledge to work as animators of "crisis gardens" in different settings (urban, rural), especially within the ongoing economic crisis. Based on the principles of agroecology, the trainees will be able to accompany families and communities in the design and implementation of small gardens that can provide basic food supply using locally available resources. 

Dates: August 10-11-12-13-17-18
  • From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
*Snacks and refreshments will be offered. Participants can bring their lunch boxes and use the space's fridge.

Location: Sikka co-working space in Saida (South Lebanon)
Languages: Arabic (technical terms in English)

The deadline for registration is August 6, 2020
Participation in the training is free of charge.

Who Should Participate?
  • Students or fresh graduates of the Lebanese University - Faculty of Agriculture, residing (or able to secure accommodation) in the South Lebanon or Chouf governorates (in order to arrive on time and avoid unexpected road blocks).
  • Applicants should be able to commit to the whole training period, and be interested in helping communities in the future. 

Skills to be acquired
  • How to collaborate with families and communities on designing and setting up small crisis gardens tailored to their specific needs and environments
  • How to follow up on the crisis gardens and ensure healthy harvests using natural solutions
  • Ability to prepare and animate basic training sessions on crisis gardening
